The closure of circulation systems in the paper mills increases the amount of inorganic and organic soluble substances and colloidal material-detrimental substances - in circulating water system because of their low retention.Detrimental substances will cause problems in the paper machine and they effect the chemistry of the system.Because of these reasons the detrimental substances should be eliminated from the system. It is possible to use additive chemicals in a clean pulp.In this work was chosen cationic polyacrylamide which is a widely used as a retention and dry strength aid. -The aim of this study is to find out the effect of detrimental substances on the adsorption of cationic polyacrylamide on mechanical pulp. The mechanisms of adsorption and the effect of polyacrylamide on retention and strength properties in the present of filler will also be studied.
